Tank Vehicle Sights, Periscopes & Displays Desiccation
Armoured vehicles play a vital role in today’s Battlefield Engagement, without the use of Periscopes and display technology; vehicles can become vulnerable to attack.
Whether you are in the driver’s seat, command and control or weapons station, it is essential to be able to visually see what is happening outside of the vehicle. When either manoeuvring the vehicle, aiming at a target or performing reconnaissance these Periscopes & Sights mean that no one must physically exit the armoured vehicle to perform these tasks.
The most common problems occur due to moisture causing condensation, fogging or even a “whiteout” of the optical lenses. To protect these periscopes, vehicle sights and display systems from the problems of moisture, dust and pressure variation, we provide a wide range of Desiccators, Desiccant Cartridges and Automatic Breather Valve solutions.
With the protection of these desiccation and pressure relief devices, the extremes of temperature and humidity will prevent condensation forming on lenses and in extreme conditions a “whiteout” effect. Maintaining the equipment’s efficiency during its operational requirement.
We also have a unique Dry Gas Purging System which can be used to remove all the inbuilt moisture within your Periscope or vehicle display prior to fitting any Desiccation device. This Purging System can also be stored within the vehicle for regular maintenance and should be used every time the Desiccant Cartridge is changed. It can run off a 24v DC battery, so no mains power is needed, it contains a desiccant pack and pump to generate its own dry air.
Additional applications for this equipment include, being used in determining the Moisture Vapour Transmission rate (MVTR), within your Periscope or Sighting systems. All equipment’s have leak paths through seals and gaskets which will eventually allow moisture to ingress overtime. Our Dry Gas Test Equipment can determine the figure so that the correct amount of desiccant can be specified for each equipment’s life during service. This testing can be done in house or at your own premises depending on the size of the unit to be tested.
