The use of Humidity Indicator Plugs on equipment allows you to view the humidity levels inside your device knowing that it is free from moisture and protected to a specified humidity level. Depending upon the sensitivity of your equipment it is desirable to have a Humidity Indicator Plug that references the key levels to trigger an investigation or change the desiccant within your product.
Our range of Humidity Indicator Plugs can have single level or multi-level indicator papers, as a guide any equipment that is optical or laser based that needs to maintain very low levels of humidity should be using 15% & 30% Humidity Indicator Plugs. For electronic equipment, the use of a 30%, 40% or 50% Humidity Indicator Plug is recommended, please view our specific guides for equipment for further information on this as there are some exceptions to this rule.
In many cases Humidity Indicator Plugs can also be fitted with a Desiccant Cartridge that can be mounted into the back of the Plugs. Having a Desiccant Cartridge will allow the equipment to be protected from any moisture ingress as it will adsorb both the internal hygroscopic moisture plus any moisture entering via seals and gaskets on your equipment.
The Humidity Indicators Plugs are impregnated with a moisture sensitive chemical that changes from blue to pink when the relative humidity specified on the plug is exceeded. These changes are fully reversible once the Humidity Indicator Plugs are dried, thus allowing them to be re-used.
We also offer a range of Conductive Nut & Shielded Nut assemblies that can be used in conjunction with the Humidity Indicator Plugs to provide RFI / EMI conductivity, in some instances we can screen the threads so a conductive nut would not be required.
We also have a unique Dry Gas Purging System which can be used to remove all the inbuilt moisture within your equipment prior to fitting any Humidity Indicator or Desiccation device. It also can be used in determining the MVTR in your equipment, allowing a more accurate prediction of your desiccant requirement, this can be done in house or at our customer’s premises depending on the size of the unit to be tested.
