Designed for use with Shipping, Storage and Missile Containers, TA475, TA495 & TA595 Desiccant Ports or TA486 Desiccant Baskets are a way of holding desiccant bags within a cage or basket, so they are not moving freely around your container. TA475, TA495, TA486 & TA595 Desiccant Ports are available in a variety of sizes depending on the space available within your container, they allow desiccant bags to be easily replaced without having to open the entire container. These items are panel mounted through a clearance hole using a back nut and washer. Standard sizes are 2” and 4” diameters.
In some instances, it is not possible to use a standard basket on the back of the Desiccant Baskets and either a custom cage or Desiccant Sock can be used. This is typically common practice if you are requiring large amounts of desiccant bags within your container. For these cases, an Access Port is used instead allowing the user to pull the desiccant bags out with ease. The standard sizes for Access Ports are 2”, 4” and 5” diameters.
The cover of the TA475, TA495 & TA595 Access Ports and TA486 Desiccant Baskets can be fitted with additional devices in order to reduce the number of holes on your storage or missile container. Most standard Automatic Breather Valves, Humidity Indicator Plugs, or combined Valved Indicators can be easily mounted into the Cap of these Desiccant Ports. These additional items must be ordered separately.
A range of Desiccant Bags are available separately for use with each size and range of Desiccant Ports or Desiccant Baskets. Depending on the application it is possible to use Activated Clay, Silica Gel or Molecular Sieve Desiccant Bags within these baskets, you only ned to ensure that the correct Humidity Indicator is used or each desiccant type.
It is also common to use netted material inside your containers to hold the Desiccant Bags, thus preventing the Desiccant Bags for moving around the container freely and risking damage to the bags that could expose the desiccant contents. This is very true for larger containers that require multiples of Desiccant bags. Alternatively, we have Desiccant Boxes available to fit inside the container to house the Desiccant Bags.
