Automatic High-Capacity Pressure and Vacuum Relief
The TB790 High Flow Valve from Arcadia Desiccant is designed for applications requiring the rapid movement of large air volumes in a short time, automatically. It offers both pressure and vacuum relief at an opening threshold of 0.50 psi ± 0.25 psi in both directions, making it ideal for use in airborne military equipment and rapid decompression scenarios.
Rapid (or explosive) decompression has become a growing requirement for air-transported military containers. This presents a significant design challenge, traditionally addressed with rupture disks that must be replaced after use or accidental over-pressurisation. The TB790 provides a more efficient, reusable solution.
With a flow capacity of up to 140 SCFM, the TB790 is capable of handling the decompression of a 50 ft³ container from 10.1 psia (typical cargo hold pressure at 10,000 ft) to 2.7 psia (external ambient pressure at 40,000 ft) within 15 seconds.
Even without decompression requirements, large-volume containers transported by air must accommodate significant atmospheric pressure variations with altitude. According to SAE AS27166, valves should be capable of flowing 12% of the container volume per minute. Based on this standard, a single TA790 valve can protect a container exceeding 1,100 ft³.
A manual release button is included to safely relieve pressure or vacuum for easy enclosure access. The integrated retaining clip ensures the button is only activated intentionally, while the attached lanyard prevents loss of the clip. The valve maintains a low profile, projecting just 1.25″ from the wall, and supports installation in container walls up to 0.40″ thick.
