The use of Breathing Desiccators & Valved Desiccators is becoming more common, as they are perfect for applications on helicopters and UAV’s that use sensitive payloads such as Targeting PODS and FLIR Cameras.
Breather desiccators are designed to be used with equipment’s that are not completed sealed and have a leak path into them, so the Breather Desiccators becomes the larger leak path ensuring that any air entering the equipment passes directly through the desiccant and is dried. Breather Desiccators are also often used for equipment that is extremely sensitive to pressure or vacuum, so that any pressure changes that occur are equalised with the Breather Desiccator before any pressure differential can damage the equipment. Breather Desiccators are commonly used for Rotary Wing / Helicopter applications.
Valved Desiccators are designed to maintain a fully sealed equipment or enclosure until a set pressure or vacuum is reach at which point, they will open to allow the release of pressure. The Valved Desiccator can be set at various pressures setting from 0.5psi depending upon how sensitive your equipment, this allows the equipment to stay sealed until the valve needs to operate, thus allowing for the desiccant life to be longer as it is not constantly Breathing like the Breather Desiccator are.
